this the best expanded group recording I've ever heard of Monk!!!
I have so many recordings of Monk, and I love everything he's done except the larger groups and the orchestras which always fail to capture Monk's essence. This recording swings like crazy, and all the players are PLAYING Monk music, not just executing it. I actually hesitated to download, thinking I'd heard too many live performances like it, but it has such spirit!!
